I’m super impressed by that quote from Morrow. It’s totally professional and respectful while making it very clear what he expects on his team. Good for him.

What can I say. I love Brenden Morrow.

I also found this quote interesting.

Morrow said he has not talked to management about Avery and has not talked to Avery himself.

I guess that proves all those wrong on Heika who were saying they were sure that management had spoken to Morrow and the team and gotten their approval before they made this move.

Looks like the guys are going to have their hands full. I have a great deal of faith in the character of this team though. If anyone can make this work, it’s these guys.

Anyway, this is all a long way to say I guess that means I’ve officially bonded with Dallas…

That’s so great, Sarah! I think a lot of people decided the Stars were cool this season, because all the players are good guys. But I guess that’s not what Hull and Jackson wanted.

I am going to try to do the ignore thing. I am not going to promise it, but I’m sure going to try. (After I post a quote or two from Brenden.)

As I did in the other thread, I offer my condolences. I am a Sharks fan, but my allegiance is always split between “my team” and “my players” (Schneider and Brad Richards). I’ve been less than impressed with Anaheim, so I’ve had a hard time “bonding” with Mathieu’s team (which he probably won’t be with much longer anyway), and I wasn’t happy when Brad was traded to another Pacific rival.

However… Dallas *has* impressed the hell out of me. The fans are great, the team has a lot of promise… it’s been a pleasant surprise.

Anyway, this is all a long way to say I guess that means I’ve officially bonded with Dallas, because I was actually heart sick upon reading this news yesterday. After a day to digest, and a really long run (well, long for me), I’ve relaxed a bit.

Dealing with Sean Avery is like dealing with a bully. They thrive on getting under your skin and being hated. And there are two ways of dealing with it, 1) stand up to him, or 2) ignore him. I’m an advocate for 2. He’s the ultimate attention whore, so starve him of that. Don’t give him the satisfaction. He’s just one more player on the team (and not nearly the best), so just deal with him like the 4th line pest that he will be. One step above a minor leaguer and nothing more.

What I find questionable is that Avery LIVED with Brett when they were in De-rot. Isn’t this signing a conflict of interest? Brett could have paid him more because they’re friends or brought him to town to have more friends. I think it’s all a little suspect.

You know, Schnookie, you might have an idea there. Maybe I can look for things to laugh about. I’m sure there are plenty of things about him that are laughable. That right there might get me through this.
