I’ve been infuriated with the Pittsburgh Penguins for weeks now, because Bouche has been a “healthy” scratch.
I was planning to make the Pens my secondary team but they have not treated Bouche very well. I was also happy, at first, to find Empty Netters so I can follow the team. But that Seth guy hasn’t said one nice thing about him.
Since the Pens are free-falling now, they’re looking back on the Boucher-Sydor trade and wishing they had Sydor back. He had barely played over there for a season and a half! I understand he’s a great leader in the locker room and all that, but he wasn’t the one winning those games early in the season. He was in the press box.
And now they think Bouche is a poor replacement as a leader in the locker room. I don’t see how the new guy can lead the team when he doesn’t get to play. Sydor had been around a long time. And Bouche isn’t the one losing all those games now. He’s been in the press box.
Sydor’s stats may be better here than they were there, but if he were still in Pittsburgh they wouldn’t be, because they wouldn’t play him! As a perennial healthy scratch, Bouche still had fairly good numbers over there. He was a plus-6 on that sorry team.
Now we hear that Bouche injured his foot back in December. He played a few games after that, then was scratched. And the stupid team didn’t even mention that he had an injury. Even their local writers were surprised to hear that he had been injured.
Why would they do that? Why would they make everybody think he’s a healthy scratch when he’s injured? What kind of organization is that?
I assume they are not going to re-sign him over the summer and even if they were interested, I would hope that Bouche wouldn’t be. (He can come back to Dallas and be our veteran presence.)
I’m a big fan of Sidney Crosby, but the rest of that team can go jump in the lake.
